Alexander Technique Group For Beginners
The technique is a re-education of balance and co-ordination which can improve poise, suppleness and mobility. This in turn helps the individual to gain inner control, helping to reduce stress and pain, such as back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, neck pain and generally improve health and awareness. In this group we will learn more about improving posture and stress alleviation to release tension and discomfort held in the body - and mind.
This course is a general introduction to the Alexander Technique. It aims to define and explain the basic principles which underlie the technique. These principles will be demonstrated as simply as possible and applied to ordinary activites such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, lying down, sitting at a desk, speaking and breathing etc.
By the end of this course you should be able to recognise patterns of posture and movement, shallow breathing, restricted movement and reduction in niggling aches and pains. The ideas and principles discovered by Alexander can help create effective strategies for living and enhancing one's potential to the full.
Course leader is Joshua Enkin who brings 25 years of work experience and joy in teaching the technique.
